I've read this a few times - a reporter turns himself Black through medication, makeup, etc. and travels through the south during segregation in 1959. He ended up suffering long-term health problems from the medication. The book is very insightful and unique. I think it's a good way to help whites understand what Blacks have gone through. The book is very well-written. You can see some photographs online of his transformation, as well as some extra stuff that wasn't in the book. I'd like to see someone write a book like this today, to see what's changed.
I own this one. I should probably read it.
