It's been years since I've read Frieda Fromm-Reichmann's books and papers, but this is one of two books that I still own. Her outlook on psychiatric illnesses might be somewhat dated, but her humanity, intelligence and common sense come through. Above all, she is a compassionate voice. And that never goes out of style. She is the therapist of the girl in the fictionalized biographical novel I Never Promised You a Rose Garden by Hannah Green/Joanne Greenberg. Loved her in that book then went on to read her real writings.
