Almost as soon as I started reading I thought oh please not another Twilight! I couldn't believe the similarities. Then I got to the last pages and there was actually a pretty nice twist. I was impressed because it wasn't predictable. I liked that. Really the 3 stars are for the ending.
Myers admirably depicts the frustration, injustice, heroism, excitement, and monotony involved in fighting. The language is unrealistically clean for soldiers, and some of the characters are stereotypes, but this novel is still a fascinating and important read.
