This is a collection of writings about modern music, music culture, electronic music and aesthetics (edited by one of my professors at Hampshire.) So far I've read only read the article by Pierre Schaeffer, which I translated!

Set in Jackson, Mississippi in the early 1960s, this is a novel told by three women; Aibileen, Minny, and Skeeter. Skeeter is a twenty-two year old white woman who has recently graduated from college and is hoping to become a journalist. After some time, she convinces Aibileen and Minny and 11 other maids to tell their stories about what it is like to work for a white woman and compiles these accounts into a book. There are good stories and bad, there is love and hate but through the telling there is hope that some day things will change. This is an elightening look at what it may have been like to live at this time from both perspectives. It leaves you wanting to know more about what happens to these three women and how Aibileen and Minny deal with the fall out when the book is released and people start to realize who it is about. This would make a great bookclub book since it touches on so many issues; prejudice, civil rights, and domestic abuse to name a few.
