I found this book full of great trends looking at the future. I found it facinating despite it's shortcoming. So let me mention it's shortcomings. 1) Several times "climate change" is mentioned as if man can prevent it, or that it is even happening. One of the foundations of Science is that critics can replicate the experiment instead of "trusting" the proponent of the experiment. The reason cold fussion is defunt is that skeptics cannot replicate the experiments. Gravity is believed because people can verify the experirments and therory. But with global warming we are supposed to ignore the fraud of East Anglia and the destruction of data ant just "trust" the proponuts. Climate change is a political movement, if you want to verify the experiments instead of just "believings" you car cast as a denyer. This behavior reminds me of the Catholic Church hundreds of years ago with Galileo. 2) Much of what this book predicts depends on ongoing worldwide prosperity. The increasing deficit spending in Europe and the United States threatens this. Poor and bankrupt countries and people cannot afford cheep technology. Yet this book barely mentions this problem. 3)Radical Islam threatens a new dark age and thretens most of the predictions of this author. Just look at whats happening in Egypt. It's tourism industry had been destroyed. I wish this was a better book. But at least it is worth reading.
