I like the themes of Justin Gustainis' books. One of the hardest feats to do as a writer is to make an interesting book that introduces a group of new characters. Black Magic Woman introduces us to Quincy Morris, a well researched Supernatural Hunter. He does not appear to have any special powers or abilities other than a good amount of smarts, toughness and a family history of getting involved in the weird. I like the concept of the regular guy taking on the supernatural a'la Indiana Jones. We are also introduced to Libby, a witch, and Van Drennan a South African cop in the Supernatural Division. Add in a lot of interesting side characters and you get a wild introduction to the series. Fighting witches and demons; the protagonists fights for their client and friends while multiple sides, completely unaware of each other, fight to the death. Great stuff! I am looking forward to the next novel.
A little melodramatic, but I still like the way she writes.
