I really enjoyed this book. While I was reading the book, I could see everything happening to Cannie. But after, when I thought about trying to explain the plot to a friend, it made me think that some of the things were improbable. And maybe that is why it was a good book; that the author could make you believe that anything can happen.
Rumpole travels to Africa, takes on the art world, defends a country squiress, and figures out an ingenius way to collect the fees that are owed him in this collection of short tales, read by Bill Wallis, featuring the always entertaining legal eagle and his cohorts.
Kind of felt like he was trying to be Kafka and failing. Funny in parts, though.
Some people really like this book- I found it obnoxious. I found the love story (the spine of the book's narrative) unconvincing and cheesy. Desipite Henry's supernatural abilities, their relationship was fairly untextured. The female character was lame and lifeless, with very little willfullness of her own.
