If I had rated this at half-way, I would give it 5 stars. It's the ending I have a problem with, which seems to be common for me. I thought the climax and resolution felt sloppily and hastily written, giving a quick end to a book that I thought deserved more, especially given the time and care the author took to develop the story lines and characters. Also, I started feeling sad that fundamentally, all the characters hated each other. I didn't really understand all the angst and hate ultimately. Update - I didn't even remember reading this book! I had to read multiple synopses to convince myself that I had read it and liked it. If a book leaves that little of an impression, I have to rate it down.
