I love the look into the history of his family while seeing the world with Micah. This book, while very much into reality, is in my opinion one of his best.
This book introduces characters who seem unrelated one by one. As the story progresses, the reader slowly pulls the whole puzzle together until, at the last page, everything makes sense and is clearly connected. It couldn't have ended more perfectly, yet leaves the reader begging for more. This book takes you to the darkest parts of humanity and through all through all possible emotions leading there. Honesty, deceit, horror, bliss and wonder. You will laugh. You will cry. You will cheer. You will mourn. You will hungrily turn each, not able to read fast enough in anticipation of what is to come. I have read a lot of classics, and in my opinion, East of Eden is truly the best.
