After re-reading this book, I think I understand the ending for the most part (I still don't understand the notes though, perhaps they aren't meant to be understood). The last two chapters make a lot more sense if you take into account the full title of this book. It isn't simply called "The Man Who Was Thursday," it is "The Man Who Was Thursday: A Nightmare." I'd rather not spoil anything, so, just keep in mind the subtitle while reading. (also, whenever anyone mentions "the descent into Hell," just remember how Gabriel and Gregory enter the Anarchist's lair initially, it is a very obvious metaphor.) The one aspect of this book that I like the most however, is its stunning prose and brilliant wit. Almost every line in the book is quotable.
