This book suffers from a Preview complex - just like with an overly long movie trailer, by the time I was done with the book sleeve, the introduction and then the prologue, I knew what the first 200 pages of the book held: This poor, black woman in Baltimore in the 1940s had her cells taken from her and they happened to become one of the most significant scientific resources ever. It's not until you're 200+ pages in that you realize there's a real human story there, and that you know and love these "characters." This advertising major read a non-fiction book about cells and enjoyed it, so, there you have it.
