Going inside the mind of someone with Asperger's was very interesting. It also made me reflect on how I interact with other people, and also the problems I've had -- much less severe, but still -- with being socially awkward as an adolescent, and how arbitrary many of our social norms and mores are. Even though I've known someone with this condition, and read much about it, I never really "got it" before. I think I had a lot of misconceptions. I actually always thought that people with this condition couldn't feel the emotions that others feel as deeply -- now I realize that is completely wrong, and I'm embarassed I ever thought that!
