This first book in the series was excellent. While there is a lot of talk about magic in the book there isn't much evidence of it. One great thing about this book is that Martin keeps you guessing. He is not afraid to let really bad things happen to really good people. No one is safe in his novels. Great story and great characters.
Not only was Parker Fadley immensely hilarious but the forward tilt of suspense that lies behind all of her secrets would have kept me turning the page even if her voice alone wasn’t able to get the job done. The fact that the characters were all so entertaining and the story behind Parker’s fall from grace is the perfect combination. This book was the perfect mix of hilarious and serious, the kind of funny that any person who loves a snarky narrator will be able to relate to, and the story is so perfectly heartbreaking that the comedy behind Parker’s narration is almost necessary—without it, this book would be far too melodramatic.
One of my all time favorites. Lots of little lessons that everyone can apply to their lives in some way. Easy to read and fall in love with.
