** spoiler alert ** The first thing I said to myself when I first picked the book up is "Wow, this is like, half of what JP usually writes" All his previous Max R. have been around 400 or so pages, and this one was only 256. I thought that there was going to be a HUGE cliffhanger at the end, like maybe Fang had died or something--unreal, I know, but still. However, when I finished the book--staying up during the night to do so--I was disppointed. Truthfully, nothing too exciting happened in this book compared the the previous three. It was too short, and the ending sentence struck me as...off, a little. I am still amazed at how short the book was! I really had thought it might be longer. And I was disappointed by the lack of affection between Max and Fang. The previous three were better.
