This book was absolutely fantastic. Meyer describes vampires in a completely new light, severing this from your average, run-of-the-coffin vampire novel. The setting is the small, dreary town of Forks, which has a conveniently rainy and foggy climate. Perfect for Meyer's vampires--who, instead of burning in the sun, simply become fantastically, dazzlingly shiny. It's hard to express how wonderful a read this is. It has harbored a cult following since it first came out, and 10 out of 10 times, readers have loved it.
As I'm reading this book, I'm fascinated by the culture of the Hmong, and have great respect for their ways and traditions. Yet it's a sad commentary that when people come to the United States, often their difference and cultures and beliefs are not respected or honored. In medicine, this can be tragic. I'm looking forward to the conclusion of this well written read.
There aren't a lot of books that I purchase and even less that I find myself reading more than once, but I have read this twice in one year and encourage many others to read it.
