Wow.
The most surprising thing about Moll Flanders was how much I liked her as a character. She was amoral, self-centered, and unscrupulous, but I wanted her to succeed nonetheless. The other aspect of this book that I most appreciated was the idea of reinventing oneself. Moll Flanders is able to start over in various locales--new name, new husband, and all--without much trouble. How times have changed.
