The ending is something of a letdown, but the character development and psychological angles really carry the book. After 15 years, I still remember the first and last names of all the central characters...definitely a worthwhile read, even (especially?) for those who aren't "horror fans". Postscript: I'm actually re-reading it now, after almost two decades!

I read a different version (which I can't find here), but I really enjoyed this one!

Very pretentious and a bit off-puting, but there was still something that I liked... I forget now.

Really great! The writing was easily understood and really made you feel like you were in the book. The characters were great, except Linda; I didn't see much of her personality come through in dialogue. All we know is that she is smart, likes to read and has a horrid father. The Beast's character grew tremendously and I even cried in one part! An amazing story of the ages retold beautifully!

This was my second favorite of the series, also a quick read and had some great character development. Felt a little overdone contrived, like she was trying to come up with an excuse to continue to idea of the Hunger Games but keep the same characters.
