I was surprised by the narrative quality of the opening chapters. The rest is what you would expect of a policy report: objective, impartial, somewhat dry. The recommendations manage to be inspiring, even if we will never see them carried out.

** spoiler alert ** A Child Called "It" is in my opinion a very sad story. It has opened up my eyes to see things that normally I wouldn't have noticed. I think that it is really sad that "David", the little boy who is now called "it". To know that a mother could treat her child like crap. And he was so scared of her he would do nothing about it. And even tell nobody. People try to help him but he just gets even more scared that his mother will beat him or find other hideous ways to torcher him. The person in his life that he thought was his hereo wasnt even there. His own father wouldn't even stop the abuse that was going on. How ridiculous can people get? If my spouse were doing any of that to my child(or children) I would be done and gone. But for him to sit there and let this go on for years and years is plain out stupid. And in my opinion makes him nothing even close to a man. David starts stilling food from the kids at school because, he his rarely ever fed at home. But when it catches up to him an people start noticing there food is gone. The princpal gets involved and calls his mother. Which for David only makes things worse for his home life. His mother would regarly make him puke up his food to see if there was anything she didn't feed him.. How? Cruel is that.. Some of the things she put this child through are things I wouldn't even think of.
