THe book was WAY better than the Lifetime movie! What a letdown the movie was!
Maybe no subject needs "outside the box" thinking more than Econ to be interesting (to me). This is a very fresh and thought-provoking set of essays on a variety of subjects not under the traditional purview of Economics. I found the supporting statistics and reasoning to be entirely credible. The author is clearly one of the brightest stars in his field. The only thing that keeps this from getting 5 stars is that the sum of the essays isn't really much greater than the parts. This worked well in audio format.
The breadth of this novel is incredible. It's amazing how successfully the Mr. McEwan transports us from decade to decade so seamlessly. The weakness of this novel, however, is his character development. They have interesting traits, but I personally wanted to smack Briony.
I just noticed the average rating for this book was 4 stars. Yuck. The author does a decent job putting together Kurt Cobains' life and rise to fame. In the last chapters he takes "creative license" in describing Kurts' last moments, all the way to his suicide. It's disgusting. No one was there (that we know of). He has no right.
Not quite typical of the Bradbury writings, but extremely enjoyable nonetheless.
