I'm glad I gave this a chance. I had seen the commercials for the movie and was annoyed that tattoos and scars made someone a "beast". However, in the book, it sticks true to the fairy tale and he becomes a hairy animal-like creature. It basically is the beauty and the beast story most know - just modernized -- new york city, cell phones and internet connections. It was a fun quick read
This book was excellent and is something that everyone should read. The author does a great job covering both the scientific side of the story as well as the personal. Some of the things that were mentioned in the book were so shocking I had to remind myself that this book isn't a piece of science fiction, it happened to real people and not that long ago. This book will stick with you once you've read it.
