Dahl has a mischievous streak: when is a cigar just a cigar? Not in this book! Always love book/movie pairings and the movie adaptation of this one is very good, though not perfect. Movie omits visit to Miss Honey's tiny cowshed place ("Oh, well done, you!") with the Dylan Thomas quote, but I love the cameo appearances of favorite books and soundtrack is delightful. My 8th-graders love this one, too.
