My book club had an interesting discussion about Rubin's role in this book. As she herself admits, she is happy when she begins her project. But when I picture this book written without Rubin injecting herself into the story, it's just not as effective. A lot of her suggestions are common sense ones, things I already know. But I did come away with a couple of things I liked and have tried to do.
