Je ne suis pas fana de réincarnation et mon sentiment se confirme avec ce livre que j'ai pourtant lu presque d'une traite parce que le style de l'auteur était très bien et que l'histoire était prenante. Dommage que le thème ne m'attire définitivement pas.
A friend recommended anything by Louise Penny, and I'm SO grateful. Having just finished the Stieg Larsson trilogy, I was looking for something that would be equally delightful, and this fills the bill. Less action, better writing, even more surprised laughs out loud as I listen to a beautiful turn of phrase or description of a character that rings true. I haven't even finished this book yet and I"m reviewing it already, because the plot is secondary to the great writing, and I plan to listen to any Louise Penny book I can get my hands on. The narrator (Ralph Cosham) is unconventional and somehow perfect for this rural town placed in Quebec south of Montreal. I lived in Montreal for seven years, which makes the town, the characters, the social climate, and the weather even more real to me. I agree with many of the comments I found for this book at the audible.com site. I'd love to live in this town; if I were murdered I'd want Inspector Gamache to be investigating; the town and the language become characters, they are so well developed.
