Equally funny and thought-provoking, this graphic novel delivers a story that's part mystery, part ghost story, part teen movie, and part journey of self discovery. Anya is a completely realistic Russian American teen who struggles with self image and fitting in until she falls down a hole and meets a ghost named Emily who's hiding a big secret. The plot grabbed me from the very beginning, and I didn't stop until I'd finished it. I loved it, and it has a great lesson for middle schoolers to be who they are and stop trying to impress people.
This series is starting to grow on me. Some of the characters' flaws are starting to make some sense and it's not just a book full of "how could you?" and "woe is me." I'll be buying the fourth book!
