What can one say about such a great classic work? The poetry, the images, the description of such a remarkable life so different than mine and most people astounds me. I only wish that Melville continued the homo erotic relationship of Ishmael and Queequeg. The first time I read it, I couldn't believe I was reading literature from the 19th century. I was told that it was Emerson who told Melville to back off. If so, it was truly bad advice. There is not enough man to man affection written in the Classics.
