Zadie Smith a graceful writer with a brilliant, supple mind and a wide range of interests. Having thoroughly enjoyed her latest novel ("On Beauty") and occasional essays in the New York Review of Books, I dug into this collection with high hopes and was not disappointed. It's nearly all good stuff, though the lit crit is sometimes abstruse. I particularly liked the first essay (on Zora Neale Hurston), "Speaking in Tongues" (on how Barack Obama and Smith herself straddle ethnic and cultural divides), "That Crafty Feeling" (on the writing process), and any of the personal essays in the "Feeling" section.

The Company, its evilness and the couple caught in the web of gred, lust, and desires all led to Hell in this quick read of "The Taleover," by Jack Drew. Unfortunety Mr. Drew adds nothing new to The Company story that readers have not seen before time and again.

I have read Drummond's bog off and on for a few years. I was happy to discover, through my niece who purchased this book, that she had written a book about meeting and marrying the Marlboro Man as she refers to her DH. There were times that I found her to be a snivelly, immature brat; but then, I think she was immature at the time. She has a great voice, however, and the story was well constructed. There are parts where you laugh out loud and parts where you just feel sadness. The humor, however, always brings her through. Well, the humor and MM!
