This was a book club selection I was reluctant to pick up, not my cup of tea, historically speaking. I was very surprised at how hard it was for me to put this book down, once I finally opened it. Not a lot of men can write from a woman's perspective and do it well. I became lost in the storyline and it's characters. Kudos to Fergus!

This book makes an interesting read. Honestly, I scoffed at my husband when he purchased the book a few years ago. Ironically, I read it cover to cover and he hasn’t! I have a little boy who is nearly 2 and I figured I’d probably need some help to be supportive of his boyhood. This book is filled with instructions, general knowledge (noting it’s a British book, it’s mainly British general knowledge), and some tips. For example instructions & tips about fishing, making a catapult, a go-cart, a tree house; general knowledge about astronomy, grammar, English history, rugby, cricket, and so on. However, since we are Australian, some things just aren’t applicable, eg. Typical English trees etc, and a little out of date, eg. Pluto still being noted as a planet etc.
