Brenna Clerkin recommended this book to me and I cannot sing its praises highly enough. The author, Elizabeth Gilbert, goes through a messy divorce and spends the next year of her life focusing on pleasure, the divine, and how to fuse the two. Her journeys across the globe resonated so strongly with me, particularly her quest for spirituality, and I found myself wishing the book would never end. Though the tone can be a bit narcissistic at times (it is her memoir, I guess one must expect a bit of that), I appreciated her honesty and loved her writing style. I seriously want to buy a copy of this book for every woman I know.

I enjoyed the history and old time feel to the book. It seemed alittle pointless of the author to make such a big deal about her being obsessed with chemistry. The thing that really made me dislike the book is how we followed every one of her thoughts, even the ones pointless to the storyline. And when the climax of the book came and we (as the reader) thought the crime would be explained, it was dragged on and on and on
