Book #9 of 2009 These last two books have been such quick and easy reads that it feels a bit like cheating. Anyway, I craved romance and missed the library book sale, so I went looking for one to borrow. This was OK, a pretty fun read, even if there were glaring errors, gaping holes, plot lines started that never went anywhere, a lack of sex (I mean, come on! I thought that's what romances were for) and extremely repetitve descritptions of the two Main Characters physical traits. I mean, I get it already! He's incredibly sexy and has chopped off more than one person's head. But, I wasn't expecting War and Peace, so this was a fun read. One plus is that the female lead didn't lose all of her self-sufficiency once she met "the love of her life" as is often the case in romances. Borrowed from the library.

I am pretty sure that Donald Miller is my soul mate. Really that is all I want to say.

I found myself cackling in corners and waylaying members of my family to read them passages from this book. That is always a good sign. For anyone who read "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius," which I felt like showed great promise for the first 2/3 and petered out disappointingly at the end, "What is the What" is like the good 2/3. Except with a heartwrenching, horrific plot. And lions. Eggers writes a fictionalized autobiography in the voice of one of the (real-life, not made-up) Lost Boys of Sudan, one of the young men who was orphaned during the Sudanese civil war and subsequently wandered the African continent looking for safety and a place to rest. Read it. It will make you laugh, cry, and generally be horrified.

This is a book packed full fantastic vampire lists. There are lists on the top 10 vampire myths, top 10 young adult books, top 10 crypts and castles and on and on. The book does much more than simply list of names and titles, it delves deeply into each one, filling the reader’s mind full of fascinating info on their favorite creatures of the night. In honor of Vampires' Most Wanted and due to my love for lists (seriously, I own a few of the Listography books) my review will be done list style! 1. I love that it wasn’t just a boring book of lists and nothing else. Everything listed was followed by a paragraph of well-researched and intriguing information. The author didn’t just ramble off facts though, it didn’t feel like some boring text book at all, but more like a fun and interesting conversation. 2. As a vampire folklore junkie I was pleasantly surprised by the author’s list of vampire myths. She definitely did her research on worldwide vampire lore and created a superb list that was bursting full of fascinating information, and most importantly, accurate information. 3. A wide assortment of films was covered in this book, not just the newest or the most popular. Many movies, old and new, were mentioned. I loved that since it gave readers a new insight into vampire films they may have never heard of before. 4. The author’s choices weren’t the obvious ones, which was great. Take the vampire literature lists for example, of course novels like Dracula and Interview with the Vampire made the list, but so did a few other less obvious books like Kim Newman’s Anno Dracula and Jewelle Gomez’s The Gilda Stories. 5. The sexy vampire section wasn’t bad, but I could personally think of many vampires sexier than the ones listed. But hey, to each their own. 6. As for the lovers section – Buffy never loved Spike, Spike even knew that and said so. So while Spike loved Buffy, I personally would have had Angel and Buffy on the list instead since their love was mutual. 7. There was a fantastic variety of lists, I was expecting nothing more than top movies, top shows and so on, but there were lists on vampiric animals, real blood drinkers, vampire events and much more. And that concludes my list of likes and dislikes. Overall, I loved Vampires' Most Wanted and highly recommend it to all vampire fans. There’s such a variety of information in there that I guarantee that you will learn something new and fangtastic.
