I liked this one way more than I thought I would, and I find that it's really stayed in my head. I didn't write a review for it when I first finished it because I wasn't really sure what to say about it other than it was really good. Teens, prep school, life, death...that's basically it. It's a quiet book that I find I'm still kind of processing two weeks later.
Fascinating read if you are into this sort of thing.
Jonathan Lethem did it to me again! I am not a great fan of science fiction but I enjoyed "Amnesia Moon" just as I enjoyed "Motherless Brooklyn" and yet do not read many murder mysteries. Here is one gem from the book, "Vance being real doesn't mean the aliens are, said Fault. It's just another dream, Everett. What better way to keep people under your thumb? Make up some big enemy, justify everything as part of the war effort." This is a story about a lost, single man named Chaos who discovers the meaning and importance of family, they are the people who take care of you every day and reward you with love.
I found it a little slow and meandering, which i know is the point, but it was hard to stay interested. I just didn't care that much about the characters or really like them. It was impressive that this very British-feeling novel was written by a Japanese writer.
