The Shack is the touching story of Mackenzie, a middle aged man who has been consumed by "The Great Sadness", the name that he gives his greif over his daughter, Missy's, murder. His daughter is taken by a deadly predator of young girls called the Ladykiller, so named for the small lady bug trinket he leaves at the scene where he takes the girls. Mackenzie blames God for his daughter's death and lives his life with a shroud around him. Then he gets a letter in the mail from "God" that invites him to the shack where his daughter was killed for the weekend. Mackenzie imediately packs and finds God at the shack. He learns to let go of the greif of his daughter's death, forgive his own father for Mackenzie's own horrible childhood and even forgive the Ladykiller for taking his daughter's life. This story is truly amazing and touched me deeply. This book is unique because it dares to explore the depths of God's intentions for life. Most authors do no express so openly the power of God's love and I admire the auther, William P. Young for putting his beliefs out there for everyone to experience. People who would like this book are those who are Christian or who are curious/trying to find God.
