I liked the location (Bay Area) but the characters all seemed stiff and trite.
I adored The Name of the Wind, and really *really* wanted to adore this book, too. While Rothfuss' writing style remains fluid and captivating, the story itself was often boring. The story dragged in the sections regarding Eld and Felurian - it could have been condensed to something much shorter. I love a drawn out story when the drawing out has a purpose; this section felt aimless at times, and I often found myself putting the book down with no pressing need to read on. Having said that, I greatly enjoyed everything that led up to Eld - the University and Severen - and the story that followed, too.
