This series just got a lot stronger with this book. De La Cruz' writing style is easy to read, but, I think, lacks narrative voice- especially as the POV changes every chapter. But the mythology she's created and the adventure she presents is pure pleasure to read.
A quite affecting novel of growing up desperately poor.
