We listened to this on tape; I might've liked it better if I'd read it. It was a bit hard to follow, as I recall, because of a plot-within-a-plot that gets strangely complicated. It also wasn't as funny as other Muriel Spark novels I'd read.
i listened to this on a long drive. the characters and plot are very flimsy. i kept thinking that the ipod was skipping chapters. the author has an agenda but not enough plot to make it good fiction. the story is so absurd. i'm so annoyed. i was talking to dan about how the author portrayed all the environmentalists as obnoxious, evil, and/or ignorant. dan replied, "isn't that true?" i'm not even an environmentalist--the book just sucked.
