Holy moley, how did I ever get through this? I agree with Steve's comment that I was not disappointed, but, sheesh, what a book! The thing that stuck out to me immediately when I stated reading Midnight's Children was that it was beautifully written in a way that made it stand out against most -- if not all -- of the books I've ever read. To every currious friend or flirtatious stranger in Starbucks who asked casually how I was liking it so far, I would enthusiastically read the paragraph from the first chapter that automatically had me hooked. I'll somehow mannage to refrain from reprinting that paragraph here, but, seriously, read this book. I'll loan it to you. Hopefully it won't take you as long to get through it as it did me, but, holy moley, it's worth it.
