Augusten Burroughs continues to be one of my favorite authors, despite the horrible movie made from this book. Check out his other work for a sharper, more foul-mouthed and darker David Sedaris type short stories and narratives.
I love a good story, and this is exactly what this is. The politics part of it is supposedly a lot like the Bush family & the first lady. But I am not looking for anything more than an intriguing tale that allows me to get lost into their world.
This book was recommended by a friend from a Muslim country in Southeast Asia. It does a really good job of explaining Islam for someone familiar with Christianity, often by comparing and contrasting the two. I liked it because it's less academic and more practical than some other books I've read on the topic.
Movie made this guy look like a hero hookin up with Jennifer Connely. Does not mention unsuccessful marriage prior, bastard kids, and trips with his male lover to cali! I guess if your gonna make a movie about me, you can start with my unlimited bank account and my 12'' cack n ballz.
A great book for understanding gang violence in L.A. from the perspective of the kids and the priest that tries to help them.
