This is a great guide to the Impressionists. It's organized by artists and museums, with another section of guided walks. Read about Monet, then visit the places he painted like the Normandy coast and his home in Giverny (a chapter) and the Orangerie (another chapter). I read it before a trip to France, and added some sights based on the book's suggestions. It's beautifully illustrated with both large and thumbnail photos and reproductions of paintings. Imagine the book as a guide to your trip to France, and visit all the inspiring landscapes. If you have an art historian's understanding of Impressionism, you may not need this book. If, though, you are as charmed as I am by Impressionism, its characters and links to French places, this is a great introductory source.

all of these things that are in this book my father has told me.Malcolm Leal is my father an i have learned to rely on the god of my great-grandmother.not for everything but for help and advice.i go to the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints.i am very blessed to have great family.and i know that with faith, i can overcome almost everything. i love this book very much, and it tells me more about my ancestors and how my dad's life was.

This book was so incredibly beautifully written, I almost wish I hadn't watched the movie first, because the movie was so dead on. Barring the choices of who played Cee and Robbie, not that Knightly and McAvoy aren't good actors, but Robbie's supposed to be very big and strong, McAvoy, is kind of slender. But that didn't bother me as much as Knightly, she's supposed to be beautiful but horse-faced...not quite pictureing Knightly for that. So because the movie and book were almost identical everytime I read a sentence of beautiful imagery prosed by McEwan, I pictured a scene from the movie, whether or not that's a good thing or bad thing I can't tell. I can't decide if I like the book better or the movie better. It was tough because I knew exactly what was going to happen as I read the book, but you know what, still by the end of part one I was in tears. When Robbie's mom is screaming "liars, LIARS!" it got to me, it was so heart breaking. I have a couple of quotes dog-earred in my book, but I'm at work now so I'll add them later.

This book was not as fun as Browne's other Sweet Potato Queen books. I found the plot a little far fetched and it lacked that authentic voice that makes the other Sweet Potato Queen books must reads for Southern women.
