A candid, courageous and heartfelt account of Mary Beth's life, marriage, struggles with depression, adoption of three Chinese babies and agonizing grief over the traumatic death of the youngest of the three, Maria. This is a story of faith: lived out in community, maturing with life's many challenges and then being forged in the ultimate test. Her honesty, perseverance and public witness are inspiring -- as is her husband Steven Curtis Chapman's corresponding musical masterpiece of an album, Beauty Will Rise. My only quibble with Mary Beth's memoir: The later chapters become a series of blog entries which cost the book some narrative flow. But it's a worthy read, a fitting tribute to Maria and a wonderful testament to God's faithfulness to and through this family.
