This book, this book, what a book. I found myself lost in this book, lost in its world and lost in its facts. There were times I was not sure what was happening. I lost track of the truth, and who did what to whom and when, who belonged to whom. While the book seemed confusing, it always straightened itself out if I just read on and enjoyed the unraveling of the question posed. I loved the world, the characters, the vast stretches of time. I was glad to have read another work by Erdrich prior to this (Love Medicine)because many of the characters are the same, and I enjoyed feeling like I knew something about the characters that was not revealed in this book -- like I had insider information into this mysterious story.
I liked this one just because I liked reading about all the parties and the planning that went into a debut during the London Season and how important it was to all those young ladies who needed to be matched up with the "right" young man. I also like it for the side story of Alleyn and Troy.
