An interview with Erika @ Badass Book Reviews regarding Ghost Story, by Jim Butcher. Question: So, Erika, tell me -- was Ghost Story worth the wait?-- ~ Yes. and No. Ghost Story starts off right where Changes left off. Harry has taken a bullet to the chest, sloshed off into the lake, and we are with his spirit. In Harry's mind, it's been an hour or so, but in real time --Harry has been dead for six months--. *Talk about a kick to the gonads* ~ Ghost Story wasn't as action packed as previous Dresden novels, and while some may find that un-fulfilling, I found it a breath of fresh air. Sometimes I felt like Harry just needed a little breathing room in other Dresden Files in order to clear his thoughts. Running on anger and rage will only get you so far, and --as Harry often found out-- can cloud your judgement. Question: Alright then, here is the question everyone wants to know Who Killed Harry Dresden? ~ There is no easy or quick answer to that question. I will say that I was both right, and horribly wrong about who killed Harry. I'm actually pretty mad at Harry right now. Ask me again in a few weeks, then maybe we can talk about it without spoiling it for our loyal readers. Question: What was the most surprising thing you learned in the Dresden files? ~ Tough question. I think the most surprising was the ripple affect of Harry's decisions from Changes, and how they related to all the characters. The worst was Molly. ~ Also, I was miffed we didn't see Thomas in Ghost Story. Not once. What's up with that? That was surprising. Question: Is there anything you want to tell your blog readers about Ghost Story? ~ I cried. The second to last chapter had the tears rolling down my cheeks. ~ I actually thought that maybe this was the last book. I would have been OK with that, the way Jim wrote it. I would have been OK. Now, I'm a bit miffed, and excited. Perturbed and scared of Harry's next 'adventures'. ~ There are some really fascinating things that happen in Ghost Story. I admire Jim's creativeness and inventiveness. Being in a soulgaze in Molly's mind was captivating. And funny. And Scary. *shudders at the mini-skirted Star Trekkians* Question: And so.. In conclusion you feel... ~ I feel satisfied. And hungry. Mostly Satisfied. As a reader, Jim butcher took me on a ride. It was a Good ride, and I can't wait for more.
