A moving, fast-paced historical fiction title that at one point became so overwhelming that I had to step away for awhile. Great read, though.

Couldn't get through 50 pages. I suspect the themes are similar to those in _Perfume_.

Like bad fanfiction, only worse! I have absolutely nothing positive to say about this book, other than the fact this tripe/waste of paper and ink was published gives me hope that my novel, which doesn't read like something a caffeine-hyped teenybopper wrote at 3 a.m., will definitely be published. Bella is self-centered, shallow, full of herself, and judges people based on how they look. Edward is arrogant, patronizing, distainful of humans, controlling, a stalker, and mentally and emotionally abusive. Both characters are two-dimensional, there's really no plot unless you consider Bella gushing over how gorgeous Edward is to be plot. What Stephenie Meyer wants us to believe is love is nothing more than Bella drooling over the fact Edward is sparkly and Edward being a controlling, emotionally and mentally abusive jerk (to be very polite). Neither of those things is love, and guys who act like Edward in real life don't stop at telling their victims what to do and getting peevish when the victims want to think for themselves. Some people are certain Stephenie Meyer must've slept with someone to get her novels published. I don't believe it, but I can see why some people would. To get truly horrible writing of that low calibur published (and what the publisher saw was unedited and therefore even worse than what we get to see) does seem like it would take doing/giving favors to someone.
