Getting back to the gritty rawness of the earlier books. This book clearly gives a picture of what it was like during that time between The Great War and World War II. I greatly enjoyed the social commentary & it was easy to read. However, I still felt that little something lacking. But not lacking to the point that I wouldn't still recommend it. So go ahead, hop on a train, take your shoes off & fall into the world of Dobbs.
Distressing and absolutely extraordinary. This couple's dysfunctional, muddled relationship was so clearly and realistically depicted, the love and hurt between the two was so poignant, and the end had my heart in my stomach and my mind reeling.
