The more I read, the more I grew to love the characters in this book!
Though not her magnum opus, The Fountainhead is one of Rand's primary works of fiction. It's not great fiction, per se; her style is didactic and overly verbose. If you're into subliminal irony and implicit meanings, forget it. She tells you who, what, where, when, why and how (and, in my opinion, ad nauseum). Her characters are case studies in support of her philosophical ideals, and they lack a certain human element which may or may not turn you off. To be fair, Rand's purpose in writing the book probably had less to do with artistic appeal than it did with communicating the premises of her Objectivist philosophy. The same can be said for Orwell's Animal Farm, I guess...
