Wow! This is the first childrens picture book that I have seen that addresses the issue of transgender. Very powerful for students as a mirror or a window. I was surprised when the call number came up as 305 in the Dewey section because I would have liked to put it in with the picture books.(which get higher circulation!) I understand though that it is based on a real child and is a teaching tool for tolerence and exceptance.

This was a good book, but it started out very slow for me and a few things happened that I didn't like. It finally picked up and I got involved in the story and then I left for vacation and didn't take it with me since it's not on my kindle. So many people really like these books. I think because I couldn't finish it when I was on a roll, I really didn't ever get back into the story until the end and it was too late. The change in setting was good, I think, even though I liked the cold Europa better. I just don't really like Cat or Bea all that much. Even though I enjoyed some things, it was painful at times to read. That's how I felt about the first book in the series also so at this point, I may borrow number 3 from the libary, or I'll just read the end in the bookstore. I'm not invested enough to really care.
