This is a tricky one. It has a huge reputation, so much so that even if it doesn't appeal as you are reading it, you try and convince yourself you should be enjoying it. But actually, i think it is one of those novels which can be both amazingly well written but not perhaps in a style which is that accessible. I've talked to a lot of people about Ishiguro, and have read other of his books to see how they compare. His writing technique is unique, but often frustrating. He seems to only let you glimpse the worlds he creates through a small hole in a ginormous canvas. I can appreciate his writing, but it is just to 'narrow' sometimes.

A 4.5 stars!!! First off - I ADORE Marie Force. This is the last of her books that I hadn't yet read. She is a must read for me. I think I cried more reading this book than any I can remember. Very emotional writing, wonderful characters, complex page turning story of relationships between friends, families and lovers. Gotta say I almost gave up on Ted in the last few chapters before he redeemed himself with Caroline. And it’s usually the female leads in a story I want to smack a little sense into. What made this book unique is that is wasn't just about Ted and Caroline, but just as focused on the friends Smitty, Chip and Parker and their relationships. Mare Force always writes the most lovable characters and this book was just an wonderful as her others. This story stayed with me far beyond the end. Kept thinking about it for hours. Would HIGHLY recommend this book.
