This might actually be a 5. It didn't go overboard with the psychological "time to grow up" torment. The relationship with the dog was well done and quite moving.
After I started this one, I thought it was going to be about color mixing, but it wasn't. Slightly disappointed, although there are several of those out there. I liked the illustrations and it was a fun, quick one to read before bed. My son requested it the night after he read it first with daddy, so it apparently was a good one.
