Five stars...without any reserve. This book, besides having an intriguing plot, was very well-written. I have to wonder, with some sadness, if a book like this (with Jesus Christ being one of Daniel's mentors and the ultimate reason this book has a happy ending) could win the Newbery Award these days. One of my favorite quotes from the book is from Simon, one of Daniel's friends: "God hides the future from man's eyes. We are forced to choose, not knowing. I have chosen Jesus." Such an inspiring read!
