I loved this book just like I knew I would. I felt like I was continuing on a journey with the Baxter's and Flanigan's. Now I can't wait to read the second book of the series.
I'm winding down my business school education, and I have to say that this is one of the most compelling books I picked up as optional reading. While yes, it's a general approach, it's because this topic, while being more than a trend, is so nascent in the history of business that younger businesses are hard-pressed to go so aggressively open-source (at least, as a mental model) as the giants in need of innovative solutions to the problems of increasing R&D costs and the commoditizing of nearly every product out there. As an entrepreneur, I've been aware of bootstrapping and leveraging the greater community to help me acquire what we don't build ourselves. The hidden gems are the thoughts that occur to you as you begin to accept, absorb and mentally apply the lessons learned. This is a book you'll dog-ear, annotate, and if you're one to re-read books, reference in the future.
