1949 Newbery Medal Winner I don't think I ever read this as a kid... I had been thinking of it as one of "those horse books" that little girls love, but that probably isn't that great. I was wrong. This is an amazing adventure story of Agba, a horseboy in the Sultan of Morocco's stables, and his charge Sham, who in this fictional account becomes the Godolphin Arabian, ancestor to many modern thoroughbred horses. After being rejected as a gift to the King of France, Sham goes through many tribulations before his value is eventually recognized in England. Agba follows him lovingly the whole way, carrying out his instructions to take care of Sham for the horse's lifetime and return immediately to Morocco upon his death.
This book tells the story of Rosa Parks and her fight against segregation. I really enjoyed reading it.
