I loved this book. I thought it was very well written and overall a good story. Is the relationship between Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester ideal? No, but that doesn't mean the story is not enjoyable.
The first time I read this play I was bored. It aparently lacked direction and climax. But after reading a bit into its relevance to the time period the story and characters gained greater depth. Jimmy Porter as the "angry young man" serves as the headfigure of his generation: unsatisfied and furious that the world he lives in is void of "good noble causes." I only recommend that you read this if you are studying post-war British theatre. Otherwise, it's kind of dull.
